Cali Coastal Adventure: Part 1- Monterey

Hi everyone…I’m back! After spending time mourning the loss of Ben & Jerry we decided we needed a change of scenery. We packed up and got ready to head up the California coast to the Monterey peninsula. I love adventure so I was really excited and ready to go….let’s get this show on the road!

Monterey is on the ocean so it was nice and cool. My allergies were a lot better there too! When we got into town we headed down to the marina and Fisherman’s wharf to check out the sea. It was picture perfect there with all the boats and the docks.

We walked around the wharf and posed for some pictures. I really liked the sea side and the fresh air. I also got a lot of pets from tourists!

There are all the typical tourist shops and some restaurants on the wharf. Some of them even said I was allowed the patio for dinner but we were meeting a friend downtown for dinner so we just wandered around and soaked up the sites and smells…mmmm, clam chowder!

There were a lot of boats floating out in the harbor.

We walked to the end of the pier and saw a seagull mom with her babies and then we took a look at all the small boats docked below. They made creaking sounds that made my ears go up.

After our time on the wharf, we walked back downtown to meet a friend of the humans. He owns the Golden State Theatre. It’s a beautiful theatre that he restored to its original condition. They have concerts and special movies there. We had a nice tour and then headed over to an Indian restaurant, Ambrosia, for dinner. We sat on the patio and had a very nice dinner… I loved the butter chicken! After that we headed out to find a hotel for the night. Monterey closes up very early so we just made it and got a room.
In the morning I found out we had a nice lagoon with a park across the street. We went for a walk and there were Canadian geese everywhere. I thought they only flew south for the winter…maybe they were lost! After our walk we packed up and headed down the coast a couple of miles to Carmel By the Sea. I’ll tell you all about it tomorrow!

  1. Spencer,
It sounds like a great adventure trip up the coast. We thought that’s where the big fire was raging.. Those are nice photos. We’re also attempting to shake off our Ben & Jerry stupor by playing around in our paddock. We think we’re going swimming in the big puddle this weekend and today is supposed to be a grooming day for as many of us as Dad can get to. We have to go read about Camel-by-the-Sea. We thought it was Camel-by-the desert? What’s that Homer J? There’s an “r” it there? It’s supposed to be Carmel-by-the Sea? Isn’t Carmel a gooey syrup on ice cream/ – TBH
