Pet Therapy Monday.

Yesterday was my day to go to do pet therapy at Northridge Hospital. I get really happy to go when my HM starts getting all our things ready. I sit somewhat patiently and watch her ironing our outfits and packing my cookies. Let’s get this show on the road!

We are part of a group that does group animal assisted therapy. We work with a group of physical therapy patients and try to motivate them to work on speech and motor skills. It is a lot of fun! This week there were 4 of us….3 Golden Retrievers and a Labradoodle. When we were done working we lined up for treats…mmmm! Here we are from L-R: Ranger, me, Bentley and Laddie. Everyone was happy to see us and we got lots of pets! I can’t wait to go again.

  1. Hi, we at The Good Home Blog wanted to applaud Spencer’s efforts and offer him a virtual doggie treat. We think what he and his friends do is a wonderful thing.

We have generous animals like Spencer and their owners visit our nursing homes to brighten the days of our residents too. We have many residents who are former pet owners and the love the interaction and love that our visiting pets provide.

Some of our nursing homes even have full-time pets that live at the nursing home with the residents. It is a special thing and gift that these animals provide and we hope more and more people become aware of the benefits these animals provide to our residents.

So, thank you to Spencer and your friends. Keep up the good work!

  2. Oh Spencer: My HM says you are so darn cute that she could squeeze you! She does it to me all the time…..

  3. Hey Spencer,

You look like a proud soldier in the photos!

I hope some day I’ll get the opportunity to be a pet therapy dog too!

    Love,

  4. Such a great thing you are doing!! My doggie mom Jazzy is a certified St. John’s Ambulance therapy dog here in Canada. She goes to retirement homes to let the old folks give her some love. She helps brighten their days!

    Good Job!!!
