Thank You-update.

spencer

Hello everyone, Spencer’s humans here. We just wanted to say very big, heartfelt “Thank You” for the outpouring of love and support we have received from so many during our time of mourning. All your cards, messages and e-mails have brought us so many smiles and have helped heal our hearts. Not a day goes by that we don’t have many wonderful memories of Spencer. Although he is gone, we we will never forget our Golden boy who touched our lives in a very special way.

We have begun fostering homeless Goldens again and know that one day we will adopt another loving soul into our family. After much thought, I have decided to leave Spencer’s blog alone as a tribute to his life and have started a new blog to share our further adventures. If you’d like to visit us, you can find us at Dog By Nature.

I have also begun a photo blog, Open Shutter, having been encouraged by many of Spencer’s friends comments on his photos.

Smile at someone random today and live each day to it’s fullest in Spencer’s spirit.

Much love to you all.

  1. Hi there,

We have been looking at Spencer, and what a beautiful love he was! We are now going through our golden, Honey’s time…she was diagnosed with terminal cancer earlier this week. We are heart-broken!
The meds the vet has her on have actually perked her up a bit, and with family and friends, we are making sure she is never alone right now. We are taking it day by day.

I am excited to visit your new site with your furry.

Cheers from Honey, and mom and dad

  2. Just stopping by to see sweet Spencer….we miss you. Thank you for sending all these wonderful fosters to your HM & HD to help them with their broken hearts….we know you are smiling down on them….
Lots of love and angel kisses to you sweet Spencer…
    hugs,

  3. I’m so sorry to hear of Spencer’s passing. I don’t check into the blogs as much as I used to and was quite surprised. My heart goes out to you. I lost my marvelous Miss Maggie to a stroke last year and not a day goes by that I don’t think of her. I’m so happy that you’ve opened your home and hearts to some other needy pups. I know Spencer would approve. I make sure to follow your new blogs. Keep up the good work. Hugs, Robin

  4. Hey sweet Spencer! We were just looking at your Mom’s new blog and had to come see you too! We think about you so much and miss you and your fun adventures. We are sending you lots of big warm hugs and angel kisses from all of us!
    Love,
Barbara & the gang in SC

Spencer has a community going here, that’s unconditional!

  6. The two of you are indeed “GOLDEN ANGELS”.
Spencer is missed by all of us. But, thank you so much for leaving his blog up, it is good to see him and remember how happy he was with his human parents.
You have the touch to make any luck golden that crosses into your world happy, content and loved.
We are so glad you have started fostering again and providing us with updates and pictures of those fortunate enough to come to you.
    Thank you

I stayed in foster care for six weeks before my forever mom and dad got me and I’ll never forget those people and still see them sometimes. You are wonderful people and we miss Spencer too. I look forward to seeing your lovely photos in the future and the new blog. Will connect!

  11. I just came by to say hello as I was thinking about you all and Spencer. Weird as the word “foster” is the anit-spam word for me to type in. I wonder if there is a tale sign behind that….anyway I do hope that all is well with you both. I miss Spencer and his adventures so much but hope that soon there will be another to carry on for him. Anyway just know that you both and Spencer are in our thoughts and hearts always. We hope to hear more from you all soon just to let us know how you are doing.
Hugs to you both and angel kisses to Spencer,

  12. Hey HM and HD,
Just checking in to see how y’all are doing. We still hold Spencer and youse guys in our memory and hearts and probably always will. We enjoyed looking at the video tribute again and smiling over Spencer’s antics. The trees here are still barren and the skies often grey which was fitting for our feelings when Spencer left us all. But soon spring will be upon us with a rejuvenation of life. Our dad is did a rescue transport last week for a Golden Retriever; dad says he did it for Spencer and thought of how much he helped other dogs when he was with us. Be safe and happy.Homer J., Jubal, J.E.B., Shelby Belle, Jack, Abby, Max, Shiloh, Alex, Boru and Jenny

  13. Good to hear from you. Glad you were able to share a part of Spencer’s life with Sugar. It FUN knowing that Spencer and Sugar shared similar characteristics and enjoyed being LOVED by their family.
Let us know when you foster/adopt another Golden. keep in touch …
    Golden Wishes, Sugar & family

  14. If Spencer were here I am certain he would give you a big slurpy kiss, a huge wag of his tail and a grin from ear to ear. You were the bestest parents he could have ever had. He will make a wonderful place for you both and play until you are reunited. In the meantime, I know Spencer would want you to share your love with another golden who, much as he did, need your love and attention. We keep you in our thoughts and prayers. You are so lucky to have been graced with Spencer! :D

  17. Hey Michelle & Sangtar,
I just wanted to thank you so much for the lovely card. That was so nice of you. I do hope that you both are doing ok. I know you miss your boy so much as I do mine. I think of Spencer so much and miss hearing about his adventures with you. I do hope that you will continue to write and let us know what is going on with you 2. I wonder if Spencer is holding classes at the bridge for those that want to learn how to hold 3 balls at one time. I am still amazed at that trick of his. I do hope that you both have a nice week. We are sending you both lots of hugs from all of us and angel kisses to your sweet boy Spencer. Oh and I forgot last time to say I loved the video of Spencer you posted.

  19. So pleased to hear you will continue to foster, it’s the greatest tribute you can pay to Spencer. Those will be incredibly lucky dogs.
Truly sorry we never got to know Spencer, just wanted to send some love and good wishes your way,

    Ben xxx

  20. Hi,

A big thank you to you for sharing your stories with us. I can only hope that you continue to post with your fosters. You have a great knack for writing and so many people enjoy what you do.

    Thanks for sharing everything Spencer.

    Leah

  21. Spencer’s Family,

Spencer touched our hearts very much. We think of him often. He teached us a lesson of unconditional love. He’s in our hearts forever.
And please, please, share all that love you have to give, too! Thank you for that. And please, keep posting.

    Spencie, we MISS YOU!

    Pipa, Carla and John

  22. so good to hear from you. Even though we have ever met, I feel as though we know each other as we share such a profound love for our wonderful Goldens. Hearts touch when there is love in common. Looking forward to hearing more concerning your fostering. This in no way takes away from the deep love you will always feel for Spencer. It simply pays forward to your next babies.

  23. Hey HM and Hd,
Thanks for the card, it came today. And also thanks for putting a comment on our blog about Gunner’s rescue transport. We hope that your transport this weekend goes as smoothly as dad’s did.. We have overcome our grieving and can now BOL and chuckle when dad goes back through Spencer’s adventure (except for the Ben & Gerry episodes). Spencer’s frail body left us but his strong spirit is still here with us, and we’re sure with you. His efforts with your guidance helped many other souls, human and animal, to be better after encountering Spencer than they were before. We intend to continue to harass you with occassional emails to see how things are going with you. Afterall, we’ve told all our least coast buddies that we have coll friends on the best coast that are the movie business; can’t let that get away from us. Keep in touch.

  24. Hey Michelle & Sangtar,
I was thinking about you 2 and Spencer today & wanted to get a smile so I came to his page. It was so wonderful seeing sweet Spencer again with his blanket and seeing you had written. You both are an inspiration along with of course your muses Spencer and Raja. I am so glad you will start fostering again and soon at that. I do hope that you wll continue to write and inspire others with adventures of the new paws that will soon touch your heart…..as I said before you truely have a gift in writing from a dogs perspective. I was looking at some pups on a breeder page today and saw this quote and it made me think a Spencer (that’s when I wanted to come to get a smile from him).

    Fragile Circle

We who choose to surround ourselves with lives even more temporary than our own, live within a fragile circle, easily and often breached.

Unable to accept its awful gaps, we still would live no other way.

We cherish memory as the only certain immortality, never fully understanding the necessary plan.

    –Irving Townsend

I hope you both are having a nice weekend and I am so glad that your wonderful memories of Spencer are helping you get through each day. Thanks so much for the update and I do hope that you will continue to let us know how you both are doing. With lots of love and hugs to you both and angel kisses to sweet Spencer,

  25. Dear Spencer’s Parents-

I met a friend of yours last weekend at the Golden Retriever Rescue Adoption in Simi Valley, and I asked about you and how you were doing. She told me that you would be fostering soon, and I know that Spencer is so happy knowing that you are going to help more of his relatives!!! You are amazing people and whatever Golden comes your way will be the luckiest and blessed Golden in the world!!! There’s not a day that goes by that I think of Spencer and check his blog just to see that beautiul boy. He will forever be in my heart as if he were one of my own! Please keep us posted as to how you are doing.

    God Bless You!

Kim (and her two, Nicholas and Holly)
