Spencer-Remembering The Love.

In loving memory of Spencer

March 1, 1998 – February 17, 2009

It is hard to believe it has been a year since we lost Spencer to cancer. I still laugh out loud when I think of some of his antics. He was an amazing dog who touched many other lives besides ours. An old soul, he just had something about him that made people love him as soon as they saw him. Spencer was one of the best examples of what a great dog you can rescue.

Even though I miss him more than imaginable, he still makes me smile everyday.

  1. Spencer, you will always be a big love in the hearts of so many.
    Blessings.

    Hugs and snaggle-tooth kisses,

  2. I gaze at his glorious Golden head and my heart stretches and flexes within me. The ache of longing for our departed treasures is tangible, so very physical, and it radiates heat. I know exactly what you mean about the old souls. May Spencer and all our old souls be happy and healthy out there in eternity. I pray we might be so lucky as to join them all one day. I miss my Nick and Achilles, and I miss your Spencer boy. I ache for them all. I’m now crying at work, so gotta go…

  3. Wow, an entire year? And yet, Spence still makes me cry. Amazing for a dog who I have never met that touched me in so many ways. I believe I have that with my Gracie girl and fully understand when you say \”just had something about him that made people love him as soon as they saw him\”. Gracie is exactly the same.

Spence, I hope you have a mouth full of tenny balls and have an unlimited supply. You are sorely missed buddy!

    Lots of head rubs!

    Steph

  4. I can’t believe it has been a year.
We often go to Spencer’s blog just to see him again. We miss him a lot.
And it was until today we knew about Kona!
    Kisses and hugs

  5. Spencer was the definition of DOG…a noble friend and loyal companion who warmed the hearts of those he met.
Even now we can see Spencer on the otherside of the Bridge holdin’ seminars on how to put three tennis balls in the mouth all at once and still look like there is room for more.
    Happy thoughts-

  6. Wow! It seems like just yesterday and then, at the same time, it does feel like a year! Spencer will always be in our hearts, and we will never forget him. We miss you Spencer!

  8. I went to visit Spencer’s blog, we go back often to read about him and laugh at some of his memories. We saw that it had been a year already, so much has happened in that year and yet all the love for Spencer remains as strong as it was then.
We wish you joy and peace in your memories of you boy, Spencer

  12. Hey M&S and Kona,
We knew that it was a year and went over to the original blogsite and viewed that wonderful remembrance of our bestest blog buddy, Spencer. Spencer, and youse guys, got us into this whole blogging world. The passing of Chandler this past weekend brought us back to Spencer\’s journey to The Bridge. Unfortunately, we expect to go through it again when Max Dog in South Africa succumbs. We remember Spencer fondly and always with a smile as we think of his mouth full of tennis balls. We are honored to give out our Bravo-Zulu (BZ) Award in Spencer\’s honor and memory to chosen blogsites that follow the trail of rescue assistance just as his site did. Spencer is the only dog to become an Honorary Order Of The Bumpass Hounds (HOOTBH) and we still proudly have his photo posted in the side bar of our blog. We just want to be sure that y\’all know that we and his many other friends still hold him in our hearts as much as you.

  13. remembering Spencer with tears and smiles both. to have such a special
pooch is a blessing. he was equally lucky to have special humans for
his time with you. like people, some dogs are just different. Their light
shines brighter than the average. Spencer was that. Thank you for sharing
    him with us all.
