Hot Spot.

Things have been very busy at the studio and I have been neglecting my blog in order to keep sessions running smoothly. Then a BAD thing happened to me on top of all that….I got a hot spot.

I have very thick, hairy  and heavy ears and with all the heat the past few weeks, it was a bad combination with what we think was a scratch I inadvertently gave myself.  So this weekend it was a trip to the vets for me because hot spots can get really bad very quickly if you don’t treat them. As you can see it’s dried up and healing nicely so there’s no need to worry. Other than I am not allowed to rub my face after dinner and that I have to pee  A LOT because of the antibiotics they put me on to help, I’m fine now. I’m the same old happy Spencer with a bald spot under his ear!

  2. Hi Spencer! Hot spots are stupid! I’ve had a couple this summer & had to wear an infatable blue tube around my neck so I wouldn’t itch & scratch my lovely lady rump. Glad you are better!

  4. Oh Spencer – I was so happy to get up this morning and see you posted a new blog! I really look forward to seeing what you have been up to. I’m sorry to hear about your hot spot. They are just awful! They will drive a poor doggie crazy! Hang in there buddy and please keep blogging.

  5. Awww..Spence..so sorry about the hot spots..they can be such a pain.. don’t know why, but I have never had any even though LV weather is condusive to them, but ions ago when mom had her shelties, they would get hot spots and the minute she noticed some extra scratching she used a otc treatment that is still -out there- good old Sulfadene.. I know it sounds way simple , but it works like a charm and is a heck of a lot cheaper.. just call us old-school

  6. YEOW !!!!!!

Our poor friend! Hotspots are icky! They are so itchy and you could just scratch forever and ever! Thank goodness your humans love you so much to pay attention to you. Buddy gets a lot of itchy skin in the summer and has to take special meds, plus fish oil. That stuff stinks! But it helps his skin and he scratches less. Us Goldens really need special care.

Stay well, Spencer. Let us know how you are feeling.

    Althea and Buddy
