Weekend Fun

This weekend the weather was awesome here in Los Angeles, sunny and a little cooler (yeah, fall!), which meant it was a great time to be outside. Kona is continuing to settle in to his new life and has finally realized that all the toys around the house are his. He loves to play with tennis balls and the frisbee but didn’t really know what to do with stuffies. This week he has started to carry them from place to place. They will turn up all around the house and the yard so we know he is moving them. This morning I found he had gathered a bunch of his toys together in the yard. It was beautiful to see that Kona now knows he actually has things of his own. There have been other markers this week as we come up on Kona’s 3 month anniversary with us and I think he is starting to realize he is finally home.

Inspired by the fabulous weather and our friends, Sammie and Sierra Rose, we set out for a hike in the Verdugo hills.

Kona enjoyed all the new scents in the air. We were told there were bobcats recently spotted in the area.

The boys hiked up a steep hill for the views.

Kona checks out our progress.

After  a good hike and lunch, Kona was crashed out. Isn’t that what weekends are for:)?

  1. Hey M,S&K,
It sure looks like that guy has settled in. In our house ALL the toys belong to Jubal; he let’s the rest of us play with them (sometimes). Sophie, Homer J., and the Tasmanian Devil (Radar) are bonafide SS troops (SS = Stuffy Shredder). We were kind of skeptical that the hiking photos were taken in the LA Basin since it appears that the visibility exceed 1/2 mile. The we remembered the M is a master photographer and you all work in visual media and can probably “photoshop’ any special effect. Kona sure looks like he can relax when he wants to. We are so happy for all 3 of y’all.

    • I can assure you there was no photoshopping out smog…that really was the sky that day:) When I add a Godzilla walking in the background, you’ll know I’m futzing with the pics!

  2. It does take a while, doesn’t it? When I rescued Scout it took about five months for me to feel as though he had finally relaxed and knew he was home. Before then it was almost like he was waiting for whoever dumped him to come back to get him. Boy, did those people ever miss out on the dog of a lifetime full of LOVE?

  3. Hey Kona! That’s just the beginning of a beautiful relationship with the real outdoors! You must have loved it, cause you finished up your day with a gi-normous nap, which is just what I do! (But my peeps never take such good pix as your peeps do!) What beautiful vistas – never heard of this place but love this post! Thanks for showing us the areas outside near you!
    Hugs xo
