Therapy Dog Test-Part 1

This past weekend Kona went for part 1 of his Therapy Dog Inc testing. It was evaluations, where potential dogs are put through many tests, which include handling, bite and stress tests, obedience and reaction to people and dogs.

The boys practice some healing before Kona’s turn.

In this part of the test, another dog walks around the test dog to see if they can sit and stay.

As you can see Kona was far more interested in the soccor ball behind us than the fabulous therapy dog, Bailey.

Then, the test dog has to walk around another dog while healing…no problem for Kona.

Daisy patiently waits for her turn to be tested. She was making googly eyes at Kona.

The boys watch a good game of ball going on in the park while they wait for the results.

Good news…Kona passed his evaluation. Now he has to pass 3 more tests in a therapy environment. He’s practicing hard so maybe, just maybe, he will get certified. If you want to learn more about therapy dogs (in the USA anyway…I’m sure each country has it’s own organizations), you can find information at either Therapy Dogs Inc or the Delta Society.

Kona happy with his results…

dog, pet, animal, golden retriever, happy, Kona

  2. Again… pictures are just AWESOME – specially that last! Huge congrats on the “pass” on this one – a furry good luck on the others – Kona is going to be a super therapy doggeh – so wonderful around people with a ready and enthusiastic smile!
