Treats and Munchies

When fostering, one of the things you need is food and treats….a lot of them for hungry pups.  Most foster families supply these themselves, so shopping for treats becomes a bit of a regular event .

This is a sample of some of the supplies we keep on hand for our fosters, and this particular batch is courtesy of a newer online pet supply company, Mr. Chewy.

We’ve shopped at quite a few online pet supply companies and some of the things we like abut Mr. Chewy are:

– nicely laid out site, very clean and easy to navigate which makes shopping faster, leaving more time to spend with our fosters.

– a very good selection of food and treats (over 70 brands). We especially like that they carry a lot of the higher quality foods and treats.

-very competitive prices

– they also carry supplements and pest control products

– you can set up a subscription order so you never run out of food or treats for your hungry pups

– shipping is free on orders over $49 (ours came very fast via fedex ground)

We’d love to see Mr. Chewy add a toy department for one stop shopping (we go through tons of stuffies:)

Another nice thing about Mr. Chewy is the give back through their referral program, donating $10 to animal charity.

If you’d like to try our Mr. Chewy,  use offer code INFO1021 on checkout and they’ll give you 10% off  your first order!

Plus,  they’ll donate $10 to animal charity!

  1. Hi Kona’s family again,
Just to clarify, I make my own treats because I don’t (yet) foster dogs…and therefore have waaaay more time than you do. I think it is so, so wonderful what you do. We have ONE dog (who sometimes seems like fourteen dogs) and therefore time is a little more, um, controlled. Or so I think (: If we were neighbors I’d be happy to share treats with you, but North Bend, WA is a long way from WhereverYouAre, LA. Bravo for all you do!

    • Hi Jeanne,

Even one dog can be a handful, our Raja had the energy of many:) I think it’s awesome you make your own treats! You’re pup is very lucky to live in such a nice area, a good place for a Golden to get lots of exercise. (We used to live in Vancouver:)

  2. Thanks so much for your great review! I’ve seen Mr. Chewy advertised on other blogs, but you’ve done a wonderful job of featuring them. I make many of my own treats (well, the dog’s own treats) but always look for higher quality commercial treats for ongoing training, etc. too. Great to hear they will be adding toys. With your special offer I will give them a try.
Your blog is one of my very favorites: your photography, your writing and the way you feel about all the dogs who find their temporary stop or furever home with you are “golden”. Are you fostering anyone right now?

    • Thanks Jeanne! That is wonderful that you make your own treats, something I’d love to do if I had more time in the day:) We’re expecting another foster very soon. Our work schedule has been a little out of control for a bit so it will be nice to get back to fostering after this break.

  3. Thank you so much for the furtastic review!! We strive for purrfection, so it makes us very happy to hear that you enjoyed your experience with Mr.Chewy!! Also, we will definitely carry other pet related items in the future, such as clothes and toys. We actually just opened in June, so we’re still adding new brands and products on a daily basis!! We’re open 24/7 , so we’re always here and happy to help! Thanks again!

    • Thanks Melissa, we were very happy with our Mr. Chewy experience. Glad to know you’ll be adding toys…we go through tons of studies:) Thanks for supporting rescue.
