Spencer Therapy Dog.

Well almost…my human mom and I started our processing so I can become a therapy dog at the Northridge Hospital.  This week I went to be  evaluated. They poked and prodded me and even almost ran me over with a wheelchair to make sure I am not a BAD dog and won’t bite any patients. I passed with flying colors because I am a  very mellow guy. I got a little badge with my name on it  and next week I will get a bandana and a hospital ID. We get to go every other week to the hospital and visit all the patients to make them happy. I think I might be good at that!

We got up early yesterday and went to see our little neighborhood parade. Even though Los Angeles is a very big city, it has  a lot  of nice little neighborhoods. Our’s has a small town feel…I think that’s because there is a lot of greenery, picket fences  and no sidewalks. The parade was small but had a lot of heart. There were police cars chirping their sirens, old convertibles with waving humans, 2 bands, lots of little kids dressed in red, white and blue and even lots of dogs! The parade went up and down a few streets and then ended up at the local park where there were games and refreshments for everyone, even the dogs!

Here they come…

  1. Hi Spencer. Wow a lot has happened in the last few days, huh? Sorry you’re not feeling well – it stinks, doesn’t it?

That is so great that you’re gonna be a therapy dog! My Mum think my sis Gracie would be a good therapy dog someday – now she’s just a wild and crazy, pup – but when she grown up, maybe! You will make folks feel so much better, I’m sure!!!!

  3. Oh Spencer, you are THEE perfect dog for therapy!! my bloodlines come from Canine Companions, where they breed the big Eastern sized Goldens to pull wheelchairs, we are strong dudes, bol … but my litter had some hip problems…I am proud to represent my lineage, Atilla the Hunter and Daisey Mae Hunter… mom had raised Shelties in Las Vegas for over 20 years (many Las Vegas stars bought her puppies)she won many obedience championships with her precious Shelties over the years, when Gracie had a stroke, her last Sheltie and the kids were so young she was broken hearted and cried for weeks..the pain of losing her Gracie was just too much to bare…she said “No more.” it hurts too much…the kids, Nick, Tricia and Cody begged her for a Golden…and she put them off… and around Christmas 1995 she took the plundge… she went to see the litter of 10 puppies….hehe..I picked her out right away..she didn’t stand a chance..the litter was named after baseball players, and i was Maddox…well, she loved Boomer Isasiason cause he did the cute tighty whitey commercials back then…that’s how I got my name..I had a cute butt..bol, and she trained me in obedience like her Shelties… and the rest is history, I have always been such a good dog!!…when my mom’s mom was in the hospital with cancer, I got to go… and I visited everyone and they loved me so much…I guess I was kinda of a therapy dog without knowing it !! You, Spencer have a badge and a bandanda, you are the best..and we love you with all our hearts!!

  5. Spencer, this means you will have TWO jobs. You are overworked, I suggest a bit more sofa surfing is required!
