Fireworks Are Bad.

safe-and-sound.jpgOn the evening of July 4th it was discovered that I, Spencer, am afraid of fireworks. Who would have thought it? This from a dog that  sleeps deeply in a sound studio listening to crazy noises from movies all day! I have slept through dogs barking, cannon shots, lightening strikes, car tires screeching  and all kinds of  strange sounds. It started on our evening walk with random firecrackers popping in the distance. I  stuck  to my humans like velcro. Then, when the big fireworks went off at a nearby celebration, I was frantic. I asked my humans if I could come up on their bed, which I never do. Any other time they ask me to go up on furniture I won’t but this time it was different. So I spent the night snuggled up next to my humans and finally felt safe. They told me next 4th we’ll go somewhere quiet.

  1. Hey there Spencer… I don’t mind fire works actually. They don’t bother me at all… It’s okay, you’ll get used to it soon.

  2. Our fireworks are happening right now because it rained on the fourth. Cameron started cocking his head from side to side. Now he is smooshed against me on teh sofa. Ferris is at my feet. Fireworks are bad.

  3. Hi Spencer old chum, those fireworks are BAD!
Makes you feel SO miserable, doesnt it? And they just go on and ON!
Every year I get a more scared of fireworks – we have lots on Nov 5th and again at new year, and the worse thing is, when I think they’ve all stopped and I can finally relax, someone lets off a huge BANGER and I get scared all over again!
It’s hard to get away from them living in a town, maybe this year I might go to my Granny’s in the country where it’s very quiet.
Hope you are feeling back to your super cool self by now, and congrats on getting to be a Therapy dog – it’s so cool getting all those hugs!
    woofs,

  4. Spencer, I found out that I don’t like fireworks either!!! I am just 1 1/2 yrs old and last year they didn’t bother at all, but this year I was really, really scared!!! My mom let me sleep in her bed all night too!!! I slept in it again last night, and I just might get to again tonight! I sure hope so. Bye for now. Nicholas

  5. You are not alone, Spencer. two of my dogs, Angel and Chase, also don’t like the fireworks. Angel paces and pants, and Chase hides in the basement. It’s not fun. I wish all fireworks would just go away forever. Here in Utah we get to do it all over again on the 24th for the State Holiday. :(

  6. Hi, Spencer.
I am not afraid of fireworks. I bark at them!
Sure you will need a quieter place next year!
    Have a nice day
