Uncle Spencer.

It’s  been very busy with work and the renovations and then we got 2 little 4 week old puppies to foster and nurse back to health. Meet Ben and Jerry. They are 2 Golden Retriever pups that some   human dumped at the shelter, most likely because they were not able to sell them.   Besides being itty, bitty little things, they have a lot of health problems. They both had worms and Jerry suffers from a condition called Juvenile Cellulitis or Puppy Strangles. He is on 3 medications and despite looking very bad, he will most likely get better.

Little Ben  was having difficulty walking when he first got here. He didn’t have much control over his front 2 legs.   It may be from being malnourished. He has a hearty appettie and is eating a lot for such a little pup. He’s already up and running around like a normal pup so I think he just needed a really good meal.

They follow me around but I have to keep my distance because of the worms right now. I’m sure they’ll be happy to snuggle up to  Uncle Spencer  when they get healthier.

  1. I bottle fed 4 rescue puppies as their Momma had died the day they were born. They were 3 days old when I got them, and before their eyes were open they started, one at a time, to have a bit of pus come out of one eye. It would come out at the corner where the eye was just starting to open. I had never seen this before, and my vet was out of State. So, I simply did what I could, which was to press gently above the eye as if swelled, to get the pus out. Then I noticed that the pus was actually coming from above the eye, on the forehead there were some scabs, small ones. I pressed and got the pus out often, and then I used colloidal silver spray in the eyes and on the head. I also had been using and continued to use a product called Transfer Factor, in their formula. They were a bit lethargic and didn’t want a bottle, but did continue to eat some. After 36 hours they each started to come around and be normal again, except for the spots on their heads. The bigger and probably older puppies didn’t get it very bad, only tiny sores, but the next one down had a bigger sore, and the runt looked like if those scabs all came off at once – her whole head would be wide open. Needless to say I left the scabs in tact and kept spraying the colloidal silver on the head and in the eyes, even as they opened. The pus only came out that first day. I truly believe they were doing so well because of the Transfer Factor. Saved their bacon so to speak. When my vet called 4 days later he was so surprised to hear that the babies were once again thriving and healing well. Now to see them, you’d never know they had a little brush with something that so many others get and do not do as well as my babies did. My vet and I suspect they didn’t get any colostrom and that they had a depressed immune system. Well the Transfer Factor I had them on is a ‘part’ of colostrum, so I truly believe that is what helped them turn the corner so quickly. I also believe that the collodial silver got the infection under control very quickly before it got worse. They never had swollen glands, and no other sores anywhere. I have one of the puppies still – I kept the runt. Other than a scar from ear to ear on her head, she is perfect, big and beautiful. She has a fabulous personality and all her littermates are just as beautiful and all have great personalities.
