Foster : Larry-Day 5

Five days with Larry, and he has settled in nicely. He is now coming to work with me, where he loves to get pets from clients and then he snoozes while we work. After work, Larry enjoys some fun and games, his favorite is chasing things….balls, stuffies and frisbees. He is very good at catching them and bringing them back but likes to play a good game of “keep away” before relinquishing his toy. He is very alert and always ready for you to throw a toy.

Larry play growls when he plays keep away, but it is all in good fun. I have taken toys out of his mouth when he stands still long enough. We’re trying to get him slimmed down to his ideal weight, so lots of running around the yard and walks are on Larry’s schedule. He loves to go for walks and gets very excited when he sees the leash.

After some exercise, Larry is content to hang with you (he’s practically sitting in my lap here). At night his favorite thing is to snuggle up next to you on the sofa. Larry also enjoys getting massages and being brushed.

Foster : Larry-Day 4

We were practicing our obedience commands when I captured Larry’s perfect sit-stay. He sat there until I gave him the “come” command. We are working on both hand and vocal signals. I am pleased to announce Larry has mastered “leave it” and will wait until I tell him “ok” to get a cookie inches from his nose. He really enjoys working on his commands and I want to teach him “find it” next, a game all dogs love.

Larry enjoys watching birds take a bath in the fountain. The grey on his muzzle makes me think he is about 6 years old. The rest of his fur is a luxurious deep black.

Larry is looking for a family to love him as much as he deserves.  If you are interested in adopting a great dog into your family, please contact Homeward Bound.

Foster : Larry-Day 3

Larry’s 3rd day with us was very wet and full of rain so he spent most of the day lounging inside. He came to work with me and was the perfect boy, sleeping for most of the day and happy to take a walk in the middle, even though we got quiet soaked.

In the evening Larry was a very good model and let me practice taking photos of him.

After our photo session Larry snuggled up on the couch to watch a movie with us.

Larry loves to go on walks and gets very excited when he sees the  leash. We’re not sure if he likes riding in the car yet. He is very to get in but he whines a bit during trips. I’m not sure if he’s unhappy about it or just excited.

We haven’t had the opportunity to test Larry with other dogs because he is recovering from kennel cough but he pays no attention to any dogs we have passed by on walks. We’re looking forward to getting out on a hike with Larry this weekend to see how he does.

Larry is one of the easiest dogs we’ve fostered and would make a very good companion. If you are interested in adopting this awesome boy, please contact Homeward Bound.

Foster : Larry-Day 2

Larry has settled in nicely and we are getting to know this great guy. He is a moderate energy dog, happy to sleep at your feet while you work after a good morning walk and play. Larry is a bit overweight right now and he might feel a little more frisky once he gets to his ideal weight.

He is very observant, and watches everything. He is content to watch birds and squirrels in the yard, but has made no attempt to chase them.

Given a chewie, he was more interested in hiding it than chewing it. He tried several spots around the yard over an hour and then decided to stash it in a corner in the house. At bedtime, he found the chewie and tucked it safely into the corner near his bed.

Larry is a velcro dog and sticks to his people like glue. He wants to be near you all the time, which is not a problem because he is very well behaved. I’m sure he would be an very good dog to take to work or an excellent therapy dog.

At night, Larry tends to be a bit of a couch hog and he would love to snuggle up to his people in bed, although he sleeps nicely on a big comfy bed of his own at night.

Larry is a great dog and would do well in a home where someone is home all day or where he could go to work with his people. If you are interested in adopting this awesome boy, please contact Homeward Bound.
